As companies continue to expand their reach internationally, the significance of container shipping grows even more. The demand for shipping containers has surged in recent years, emerging as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option for a range of commercial and even personal needs.

When we speak to our clients about their shipping container experience, they often cite benefits like:
One of the main reasons shipping containers are favored across various industries is their remarkable durability. Like Old Alabama Town in Montgomery, AL, these containers are engineered to endure the harsh conditions of the open sea, including fierce storms, strong winds, and extreme cold temperatures.
Constructed from steel, shipping containers are coated with a specialized paint that safeguards against corrosion, ensuring they remain reliable for many years. Additionally, each container is capable of supporting heavy loads and can be stacked efficiently, maximizing space during transport.
One of the biggest benefits of shipping containers is their versatility. While freight containers are great for storage, they can also serve as office spaces. In fact, with a little creativity, you can use your shipping container as both an office and a storage area. Blairworx Logistics' shipping containers for sale are great for a range of uses in many industries, including:
When it comes to shipping containers, the main replacement you'll need to think about every few years is the door gaskets. Shipping containers are designed for low maintenance, but it's still important to carry out an annual inspection to check for any areas where rust might start to form.
Shipping containers are delivered by truck. Before unloading, make sure there's enough space for the truck to drop off the container. At Blairworx, our team is happy to help you assess how much room you need for a shipping container drop-off. A good rule of thumb is to allow an area about twice the length of the container, with extra room in a straight line. For optimal placement, containers should be on level ground, especially in areas prone to flooding, where elevation is key.
A shipping container is an excellent solution for storing your products, important documents, valuable equipment, and just about anything else that matters to you. Unlike other companies that provide standard storage options, we offer fully customizable solutions designed to meet your unique needs.
Need a mobile office for your business in The Palmetto State? Perhaps you're working on a large construction project for several months and require a secure place for your tools. Twenty years ago, shipping containers were not easily attainable for the average person. Nowadays, you can buy a container from Blairworx and have it delivered right to your business or home on the same day. In many parts of the United States, a 20ft shipping container-which provides long-lasting solutions for building, storage, and shipping-can be purchased for less than what you would pay for a year of traditional climate-controlled storage.
When thinking about storage options, money is often a big factor in making a choice. At first, renting a storage unit might seem like a simpler and cheaper option because there aren't many costs upfront. But if you look at the big picture, buying a storage container from Blairworx Logistics can save you more money in the long run. When you own a shipping container, you pay once instead of making regular rental payments that can add up over time.
One of the best things about having your own storage container is how flexible it is. This feature is especially helpful for business owners who need to grab their items often or need storage closer to their storefront or office.

The exhibit will be housed on the stadium’s first-base side, which incorporates a century-old train shed from Montgomery’s Union Station. It will include memorabilia, photos, videos and artwork telling the stories of Alabama’s Negro League players and teams, including Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, the Montgomery Gray Sox and Birmingham Black Barons.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the City of Montgomery on this historic addition to not only our ballpark but Minor League Baseball,” Biscuits CEO Lou DiBella said. “We are proud to shine a light on Montgomery’s rich baseball history while helping amplify the expansion of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City and its mission to preserve and share stories that are essential to the American experience.”
Montgomery is regarded as the birthplace of the modern Civil Rights Movement, which began with Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott of the mid-1950s and the rise to prominence of Martin Luther King Jr., then a local pastor. The Montgomery Civil Rights Tour includes historic sites such as the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, Dexter Parsonage Museum, Rosa Parks Museum and Freedom Rides Museum, as well as such museums and exhibits as the Civil Rights Memorial Center, the Legacy Museum, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park.
“We are thrilled to team with the Biscuits to bring this story of triumph over adversity to beautiful Riverwalk Stadium to enlighten and inspire a new generation of fans,” Negro Leagues Baseball Museum president Bob Kendrick said. “The birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement is a perfect location to highlight the important role Negro Leagues Baseball played in helping usher in the Civil Rights Movement.”
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum exhibit at Riverwalk Stadium is scheduled next spring, in conjunction with the beginning of the minor-league baseball season.

A former state employee has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $100,000 in public funds.
Natalie Colette Lewis, 60, of Montgomery, pleaded guilty to aggravated theft of property, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced Tuesday.
Montgomery County Circuit Judge Brooke Reid set sentencing for Oct. 2.
Lewis faces up to 30 years in prison, a $60,000 fine, and forfeiture of her state retirement benefits.
Lewis formerly worked at the Alabama Medicaid Agency.
She was indicted in March on multiple felony charges including aggravated theft of property, use of office for personal gain, and violation of the Alabama Computer Crimes Act.
Lewis had been employed as a Medical Care Benefits Specialist, assigned to the Medicaid Agency’s Non-Emergency Transportation Division, since 2006.
Marshall said she had three prior felony convictions when she went to work for the agency, after lying on her state application for employment by stating that she had no prior convictions.
She subsequently received a restoration of rights pardon in 2017 for those convictions.
While employed at the Agency, Lewis was responsible for processing claims to reimburse Medicaid recipients for expenses incurred for their travel to medical visits.
From December 2019 to November 2024, Lewis entered 1,631 claims for transportation expenses on behalf of her son, a Medicaid recipient, for medical appointments that never took place.
In total, Lewis received $103,413.26 for the fraudulent claims and spent the money on personal expenditures.
“Public service is a responsibility, not a personal financial opportunity,” Marshall said. “When employees violate that duty for personal gain, it is a direct assault on the taxpayers of Alabama.”
The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit investigated the matter after the theft was discovered by the Medicaid Agency.
The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit receives 75 percent of its funding—$1.2 million in FY2024—through an annual grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Office of Inspector General.

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to a staggering $815 million, with the estimated cash value of $367.9 million making it the seventh largest in the game's history.
The Powerball jackpot rolled over again Monday night after no ticket matched all six numbers. But it wasn't a total loss. Two lucky players in Georgia and Texas matched all five white balls to snag $1 million prizes.
Other big wins from the night include 26 tickets worth $50,000 each, five tickets that scored $150,000 and one Double Play ticket sold in Maryland that brought home a $500,000 prize.
As hopeful players rush to buy tickets ahead of the next drawing, here's what Alabamians need to know before trying their luck.
Alabama is one of the few states that does not operate a state lottery, which means you cannot buy Powerball tickets in Alabama itself.
If you're in Alabama, you'll need to hit the road as the state does not sell lottery tickets, meaning hopefuls must cross the border into Tennessee, Georgia, Florida or Mississippi to play.
Each Powerball ticket costs $2 per play. Players choose five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, plus one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. Don't want to pick? You can let the computer randomly generate your numbers.
Winners can choose between two prize options: an annuity paid out in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum cash payment. Both amounts are before federal and state taxes are taken out.
Technically, no one can win Powerball in Alabama, but if an Alabama resident buys a winning ticket in another state, the Alabama Department of Revenue lists prizes and awards as income that must be reported on state income tax returns. Winners will also be taxed by the state where the lottery ticket was purchased.
If you're an Alabama resident who wins the Powerball, you must claim your prize in the state where you bought your ticket, and that state's rules on anonymity will apply.
Tennessee: You have anonymity unless someone officially requests information about the lottery winner. In that case, the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation is required to release your name, home state, and hometown.
Florida: Florida lottery winners cannot remain anonymous. The law mandates that the winner's name, city of residence, game won, date won and amount won be provided to any third party who requests information.
Mississippi: Lottery winners have anonymity.
Georgia: Lottery winners have anonymity.
Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. CST. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 26.

(WSFA) - Tuesday is Election Day in more than 140 Alabama municipalities. Hundreds of candidates are vying to become the next mayor or councilmember of their city, including dozens of races in central and south Alabama.
In the WSFA 12 News viewing area, residents will vote for new leadership in at least 23 mayoral races. Those races include cities like Alexander City, Andalusia, Greenville, Opelika, Prattville, Pike Road, and others.
Cities like Montgomery and Auburn are not holding elections, nor will this election include state offices like that of the governor.
WSFA 12 News will have full coverage in our evening newscasts as well as , app, and at the bottom of your TV screen as they start rolling in Tuesday night.
WSFA 12 News has profiled the mayoral races for a number of these cities, which you can review here:
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding residents that municipal elections are very important.
State lawmakers, in 2021, passed legislation to make sure these elections could be held separately from presidential or gubernatorial elections. It was an effort to limit poll worker and voter fatigue between elections.
It’s unclear what voter turnout will be on Tuesday, but it will vary by city, Allen believes.
“Every city is a little different,” he explains. “Sometimes you don’t have contested races, and sometimes you have hotly contested races, and the places you see the more candidates and the more hotly contested races, you’re going to see more excitement and probably heavier turnout.”
Polls across Alabama will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and will close at 7 p.m.
