Durability

One of the main reasons shipping containers are favored across various industries is their remarkable durability. Like Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park in Macon, GA, these containers are engineered to endure the harsh conditions of the open sea, including fierce storms, strong winds, and extreme cold temperatures.

Constructed from steel, shipping containers are coated with a specialized paint that safeguards against corrosion, ensuring they remain reliable for many years. Additionally, each container is capable of supporting heavy loads and can be stacked efficiently, maximizing space during transport.

Easy Delivery

Shipping containers are delivered by truck. Before unloading, make sure there's enough space for the truck to drop off the container. At Blairworx, our team is happy to help you assess how much room you need for a shipping container drop-off. A good rule of thumb is to allow an area about twice the length of the container, with extra room in a straight line. For optimal placement, containers should be on level ground, especially in areas prone to flooding, where elevation is key.

Which Industries Benefit Most from New and Used Shipping Containers?

The shipping container, originally designed for global transportation, has transformed into one of the most versatile innovations of our time. Made primarily from durable Corten steel, shipping containers are perfect for many uses in a wide range of industries. Let's check out a few of the most popular.

Onsite Storage Shipping Containers for Sale in Macon, GA

Whether you're expanding your commercial operations or moving out of your house, at some point, there's a chance you'll need additional storage. According to recent data, nearly 40% of Americans are currently using self-storage. If you need a short-term solution, a storage facility might work. But if you have long-lasting storage needs, it could be time to explore a more affordable solution.

Monthly Storage Options vs. Shipping Containers for Sale in Macon, GA

Twenty years ago, shipping containers were not easily attainable for the average person. Nowadays, you can buy a container from Blairworx and have it delivered right to your business or home on the same day. In many parts of the United States, a 20ft shipping container-which provides long-lasting solutions for building, storage, and shipping-can be purchased for less than what you would pay for a year of traditional climate-controlled storage.

A Reliable Long-Term Investment

When thinking about storage options, money is often a big factor in making a choice. At first, renting a storage unit might seem like a simpler and cheaper option because there aren't many costs upfront. But if you look at the big picture, buying a storage container from Blairworx Logistics can save you more money in the long run. When you own a shipping container, you pay once instead of making regular rental payments that can add up over time.

One of the best things about having your own storage container is how flexible it is. Unlike traditional storage units that are stuck in one place, a container from Blairworx can be set up exactly where you want it. This makes it very easy to access your goods when you need them. This feature is especially helpful for business owners who need to grab their items often or need storage closer to their storefront or office.

At the new Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza and Taproom in Warner Robins, guests can watch their pizzas made fresh and pour their own drinks from a tap wall.

The new spot at 1012 Ga. 96, Suite 700, is the first in Georgia for this Florida headquartered restaurant brand with the franchise owners planning to open a second location in Macon.

The restaurant bills itself to be the first in Middle Georgia to offer a self-pour tap wall.

Five cool things about the new gathering space

Wood-fired oven - Fueled by oak wood, the oven reaches temperatures of about 900 degrees to cook a pizza in 90 seconds to two minutes. Meats are also cooked in the oven, which is the only cooking method in the restaurant.

Fresh ingredients - The pizza dough and most sauces and salad dressings are made in-house. Meats and veggies are sliced fresh daily. No freezer is on site.

Variety - Guests may build their own pizza from more than 30 cheese, vegetable and meat toppings, or choose from the brand’s 12 signature pizzas. Starters, salads and desserts complete the menu.

The tap wall - RFID-enabled bracelets allow guests to explore the tap wall with 30 taps featuring craft and domestic beer, wine, cider and mixed cocktails. Choices rotate. Craft beers from Macon’s Fall Line and Piedmont Brewery are currently among the choices. Guests establish a tap and are charged by the ounce.

Tap-wall attendant - Not sure what to try? The restaurant will staff a tap-wall attendant for the next few weeks to answer questions and offer recommendations.

The new restaurant can seat up to 85 guests. It offers a roll-up glass garage door that can be opened to create a patio-style space. The space also can be used for private events.

Try these menu items

Darshil Patel, co-owner and general manager of the Warner Robins franchise restaurant, offered up a few food and drink items to try:

The diverse beer selection with 20 taps includes stouts, lagers, pilsners, IPAs, double IPAs and ciders with a mix of craft, domestic and even German-style beers, Patel noted.

Who’s behind the new restaurant?

Patel, with close friends Jigar Patel and Divyansh Prajapati, are behind the new restaurant. The men are currently focused on the Warner Robins location, but expect to start searching for a site for their Macon location in the next three to four months.

“It feels great,” Darshil Patel said of opening the Warner Robins restaurant. “It’s been a long process. It’s been a journey.

“But it’s awesome that we finally got to here, and we’re looking forward to this.”

Smokin’ Oak was developed by lifelong friends Matt Mongoven and Linda Black off of Pi Wood-Fired Pizza that Black opened in 2009 in Rochester, Minnesota, according to the company’s franchise website. They started franchising as Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza in 2016. The taproom concept was added in 2020.

Mongoven and Black were on hand with the franchise owners to launch the restaurant at its soft opening.

Free pizza day!

A grand opening is expected within four weeks, at which the restaurant will have a free pizza day. Guests may pick up a personal pizza from among four to five signature pizzas expected to be offered. The grand opening date will be posted on the restaurant’s social media accounts as it draws close.

With the new Warner Robins location, Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza and Taproom now has eight locations with two in the process of customizing commercial space to prepare to open: one in Olathe, Kansas, and the other in Lithia, Florida. An Atlanta location also is in the works, Mongoven said.

Hours for the Warner Robins location are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Dine-in, takeout, online ordering, and online delivery scheduling is available. Third-party delivery is coming. The number is 478-336-1625.

Alligator biologist Kara Nitschke with the Department of Natural Resources says contributing factors include a rise in temperatures rising and habitat encroachment.

MACON, Ga. — A 12-foot alligator caused a stir outside a Macon McDonald’s last week, drawing crowds and sparking a flurry of calls to authorities as locals tried to capture the massive reptile themselves.

The incident, which quickly gained attention on social media, is just the latest in a string of alligator sightings reported across Central Georgia this summer.

But experts say the increase in reports may have more to do with people than with gators.

Kara Nitschke, the official state alligator biologist for Department of Natural Resources, said alligators have long been a part of life in southern Georgia. But as more people move into areas where alligators live, sightings are becoming more common in places like Macon.

“In south Georgia, alligators are a part of life. But north of the fall line, many people don’t even realize they’re here,” Nitschke said. “Any body of fresh water within the alligator’s range could hold an alligator.”

Nitschke, who has worked with the DNR for 15 years and has led the alligator program for the past three to four years, said the state’s alligator population is holding steady at about 250,000.

She emphasized that an uptick in sightings doesn’t necessarily mean there are more gators.

“We rarely see rapidly exploding populations of alligators. It’s usually more people seeing the same gators that have been there for years,” Nitschke said.

The DNR receives calls ranging from simple sightings to reports of alligators in swimming pools, under cars or even stopping traffic. Nitschke said the agency encourages the public to call with any concerns, stressing that safety is the top priority.

“We respond to any call, even if it’s just, ‘I see an alligator, it makes me uncomfortable.’ We will talk to that person on the phone,” she said.

Climate change may also be playing a role in the northward movement of alligators. As summers stay hotter for longer, alligators are able to expand their range into areas where they were once rare.

Another factor behind the rise in sightings is people moving into areas where alligators have long lived.

“As temperatures continue to increase, alligators will be able to keep creeping upwards,” Nitschke said. “I can’t rule out that they could just be making their way north. People moving, people encroaching into alligator habitat, people being vigilant...seeing probably the same alligators that have been there for a long time.”

When alligators are removed from urban areas, the DNR works with contracted trappers to relocate them to private, DNR-approved locations where they won’t pose a threat to the public.

Nitschke said the agency does not expect trappers to tag every relocated gator, but staff do tag some as part of ongoing population studies.

Despite the recent headlines, Nitschke said there’s no reason for panic. She urges residents to respect alligators, keep a safe distance and never attempt to capture or relocate one themselves.

“We respond to any call, even if it’s just, ‘I see an alligator, it makes me uncomfortable.’ We will talk to that person on the phone,” Nitschke said. “We would like to encourage the public to call us whenever they have a conflict with an alligator or an issue revolving around an alligator."
