Durability

One of the main reasons shipping containers are favored across various industries is their remarkable durability. Like The Barrow Mansion in Jersey City, NJ, these containers are engineered to endure the harsh conditions of the open sea, including fierce storms, strong winds, and extreme cold temperatures.

Constructed from steel, shipping containers are coated with a specialized paint that safeguards against corrosion, ensuring they remain reliable for many years. Additionally, each container is capable of supporting heavy loads and can be stacked efficiently, maximizing space during transport.

Easy Delivery

Shipping containers are delivered by truck. Before unloading, make sure there's enough space for the truck to drop off the container. At Blairworx, our team is happy to help you assess how much room you need for a shipping container drop-off. A good rule of thumb is to allow an area about twice the length of the container, with extra room in a straight line. For optimal placement, containers should be on level ground, especially in areas prone to flooding, where elevation is key.

Which Industries Benefit Most from New and Used Shipping Containers?

The shipping container, originally designed for global transportation, has transformed into one of the most versatile innovations of our time. Made primarily from durable Corten steel, shipping containers are perfect for many uses in a wide range of industries. Let's check out a few of the most popular.

Onsite Storage Shipping Containers for Sale in Jersey City, NJ

Whether you're expanding your commercial operations or moving out of your house, at some point, there's a chance you'll need additional storage. According to recent data, nearly 40% of Americans are currently using self-storage. If you need a short-term solution, a storage facility might work. But if you have long-lasting storage needs, it could be time to explore a more affordable solution.

Monthly Storage Options vs. Shipping Containers for Sale in Jersey City, NJ

Twenty years ago, shipping containers were not easily attainable for the average person. Nowadays, you can buy a container from Blairworx and have it delivered right to your business or home on the same day. In many parts of the United States, a 20ft shipping container-which provides long-lasting solutions for building, storage, and shipping-can be purchased for less than what you would pay for a year of traditional climate-controlled storage.

A Reliable Long-Term Investment

When thinking about storage options, money is often a big factor in making a choice. At first, renting a storage unit might seem like a simpler and cheaper option because there aren't many costs upfront. But if you look at the big picture, buying a storage container from Blairworx Logistics can save you more money in the long run. When you own a shipping container, you pay once instead of making regular rental payments that can add up over time.

One of the best things about having your own storage container is how flexible it is. Unlike traditional storage units that are stuck in one place, a container from Blairworx can be set up exactly where you want it. This makes it very easy to access your goods when you need them. This feature is especially helpful for business owners who need to grab their items often or need storage closer to their storefront or office.

The new owners of 153-year-old Christ Hospital in Jersey City, which has NYC skyline views, have announced layoffs and a possible closing.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The 153-year-old Christ Hospital in Jersey City sits on a cliff overlooking Manhattan and Hoboken, offering panoramic views of the New York City skyline.

While condo towers rise just hundreds of feet away, the hospital complex has continued serving nearby Medicaid recipients, seniors, and others who depend on its services.

But that may soon change if the new owner, Hudson Regional Health, doesn't get more funding, the company has told officials over the past two months.

Weeks ago, the company sent notices to the state announcing that they would lay off 206 workers at the hospital through this past Sunday.

They also have told local officials that if they don't get millions of dollars in funding, the hospital will close.

A spokesman for the Health Professionals & Allied Employees, AFT/AFL-CIO, said Monday that union representatives are planning to attend a Jersey City council meeting Wednesday night to speak out about the future of the property.

The union has posted a petition urging the City Council and Division of Planning and Zoning to "Stop The Land Grab."

In August, a judge ruled that Hudson Regional Health, which owns Meadowview Hospital in Secaucus, would allowed to take over Christ Hopsital in Jersey City, as well as Hoboken University Hospital down the hill, and Bayonne Medical Center in Bayonne.

Earlier in the year, HRH, while still a potential buyer, had floated redevelopment plans to build residential housing around the Hoboken hospital, in order to keep it financially viable.

In the last few weeks, local officials have said HRH has also been floating plans to demolish Christ Hospital — now renamed Heights University Hospital —and build a new hospital on adjoining land, while erecting two residential towers in its place.

“Since the takeover of the CarePoint system and the transition of the system out of bankruptcy, we have been working relentlessly to create the best possible healthcare system," the company said in a statement in late September. "Despite over $300 million in investments in just 10 months, with a major portion dedicated to the newly renamed] Heights University Hospital, it was determined in recent days after a thorough analysis, that the facility is unable to avoid continued financial distress."

Then, 12 days ago, the company issued a more dire statement: "HRH continues to do everything possible to execute the stabilization plan for Heights University Hospital; however, we have yet to receive the necessary funding support from the State of New Jersey, nor has the county’s proposed federal funding option been realized. Without this support, we may face another major liquidity challenge as of Nov. 10.

"Rather than focusing on criticism or mischaracterizations, we encourage union and community leaders to join us in working toward solutions that protect our hospitals and ensure quality care for all Hudson County residents."

Councilman James Solomon, who's in a run-off election for mayor, criticized the residential tower idea.

"HRH has now escalated its threats, warning the city that it will demolish the hospital and erect a massive development along the Palisades unless the city approves their proposed luxury housing project," he said, claiming the company's actions are "unacceptable and driven by greed."

He characterized the company's chariman as a developer rather than a health care professional, and said he knew of the hospitals' financial position before the purchase.

“There is a clear pattern here: HRH’s actions are about profit, not health care," Solomon said. "They’ve taken control of this hospital not to serve our community, but to profit from building luxury towers and pushing out residents who depend on affordable, accessible healthcare. This crisis was caused by developer greed, and I will fight to protect our hospital and prioritize the needs of Jersey City residents."

The historic Heights neighborhood, reachable from Hoboken by a light rail elevator, has become a popular destination for families, a place where current Mayor Steve Fulop lives with his wife and children.

So far, major condo projects have not been proposed for the cliff, instead rising across Highway 139 in the Journal Square section. But numerous Heights properties are being rehabbed and redeveloped.

Adjacent to the hospital property are CarePoint Pharmacy (CarePoint is the former owner of the hospital), a former nursing school, and other medical buildings. Patch has asked a Hudson Regional Health spokesperson if those properties are also included in their holdings, but has not yet received an answer. Patch will update the story when more information is received.

The City Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Find out more information here.

They call themselves “America’s most convenient bank.” It certainly was for money launderers. Earlier this year, after other Jersey closures were announced, I wrote about the corruption and the $3 billion settlement they struck with the feds. You can read more here about what they did wrong and how blatant it was.

TD Bank will tell you all these ongoing closures are just restructuring with an eye towards more digital banking. After the $3 billion hit they took after being caught, I have my doubts that the wrongdoing isn’t at least partially to blame.

Earlier this year, TD Bank announced that locations in Cedar Grove, Marlton, Spring Lake Heights, Ringwood, and Raritan Township were all closing by early June. Now comes a new list.

The next round will see more than 50 closures across 13 states, with the most happening in New Jersey. This will be throughout the end of 2025 and into 2026. TD Bank says its ultimate goal is to close 10% of its branches.

Here’s the latest list of New Jersey TD Bank locations due to close:

385 White Horse Pike, Atco, 08004

By John Heinis/Hudson County View

‘I’m excited to endorse James Solomon for Mayor of Jersey City! James represents a new generation of leadership. His winning the most number of votes in the general election shows the energy he built going into the run-off on December 2,” Kim wrote on X.

“James is a principled public servant and a dedicated father who I’ve know for years, and I trust him to fight alongside me for transparency, affordability, and opportunity. For too long, politics in New Jersey has been an exclusive club. Now is the time to change that. Vote for @SolomonforJC in the Jersey City runoff election on December 2nd.”

The downtown councilman was the top vote getter on Election Day Tuesday, proving a late October poll by his campaign correct, both as HCV first reported.

He takes on former Gov. Jim McGreevey, who has the backing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), to determine who succeeds Mayor Steven Fulop next month, who ran for governor instead of seeking a fourth term.

“What an absolute honor to be endorsed by Senator Andy Kim! Senator Kim and I fought against the NJ machine together, and as mayor I will partner with Andy to ensure we have a government that’s ethical and will focus on making life affordable,” Solomon responded.

In March of last year, Solomon, along with Mayor Ravi Bhalla, joined then-Congressman Kim’s lawsuit to end county organizational lines, which were ultimately abolished by the federal courts.

Solomon and Bhalla also hosted a Town Hall for Kim in Jersey City the month prior as his candidacy for Senate began to heat up. Additionally, Kim’s state deputy and political director Laura Bustamante used to be Solomon’s chief of staff.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men's basketball team opened its 2025-26 season in dominant fashion, defeating Pratt Institute 81-70 on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center. Senior guard Bakhi Rogers-Robinson (Orange, N.J./West Caldwell Tech) delivered a sensational performance, pouring in a career-high 39 points along with four steals to propel the Gothic Knights (1-0) to victory in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Gothic Knights were efficient on both ends of the floor, shooting 45.1% (23-of-51) from the field and an impressive 45% (9-of-20) from beyond the arc. They also converted 66.7% (26-of-39) of their free throws. Pratt (0-1) put up a strong fight, matching NJCU's offensive energy by shooting 46.7% (21-of-45) from the floor and 45.5% (10-of-22) from three-point range, while hitting 75% (18-of-24) at the free-throw line.

NJCU capitalized in key statistical areas, holding advantages in bench points (22-9), points in the paint (22-20), and fast-break points (13-11). Pratt managed slight edges in points off turnovers (19-18) and second-chance points (7-4).

Rogers-Robinson was unstoppable throughout the contest, shooting 10-of-17 from the field, 4-of-5 from long distance, and 15-of-18 from the free-throw line. His 39-point outburst was complemented by four steals, three rebounds, and two assists in 35 minutes of play. Junior forward Donovan Crawford (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) provided steady support with 10 points, a team-high five rebounds, and three steals, while junior Marc Brown Jr. controlled the pace of the offense with six assists, seven points, and two steals. Freshman Mekhi Philogene (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bright School) also made a strong impact off the bench, contributing timely scoring and energy during key stretches.

For Pratt, Elijah Fermaint led the way with 18 points and three rebounds, while Cameron Hatcher added 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Trey Phillips notched a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, along with two blocked shots to anchor the Cannoneers' interior defense.

The game opened with NJCU seizing momentum early. Senior Raymond Ezike (Newark, N.J./Westside) won the opening tip, leading to a quick layup from Rogers-Robinson to put the Gothic Knights on the board first. The two teams traded baskets for much of the first half, with neither side able to establish a commanding lead. With 7:53 remaining in the half and the score tied at 24, Rogers-Robinson drained a three-pointer, followed by a mid-range jumper from Philogene, to give NJCU a five-point advantage. Pratt battled back late, trimming the deficit to three before halftime, but the Gothic Knights held firm to take a narrow lead into the break.

In the second half, NJCU maintained control while fending off multiple Pratt rallies. A layup from Brown Jr. gave the Gothic Knights a six-point cushion at the 14:52 mark, but Pratt responded with a quick burst — two made free throws and a fast-break layup by Mekhi Davis — to make it a two-point game, 51-49, with just under 13 minutes remaining. The Gothic Knights quickly regained their rhythm behind their perimeter shooting, as back-to-back three-pointers from Philogene and Rogers-Robinson extended the lead to nine, 65-56, with just over seven minutes to play.

Down the stretch, the Cannoneers continued to fight, cutting the lead to four on a thunderous dunk by Phillips with 1:08 left in regulation (74-70). But Rogers-Robinson closed the door on any comeback hopes, scoring the final seven points of the game — five of them from the free-throw line — to secure the 81-70 victory and give NJCU its first win of the season.

UP NEXT: NJCU returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 11, when they host Farmingdale State in a non-conference matchup scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center.
